Before you commit

Comfort and confidence in your surgical plan

Before you commit, a UK consultant in your procedure reviews your surgeon's plan and gives you an independent expert view.

Why it matters

Why patients ask for a second opinion

Surgery abroad is often planned from photos and messages. A second opinion means a real conversation with an experienced UK consultant in your procedure.

You share your surgeon's plan, letters, photos or scans, and we arrange a consultation by video or in person in London.

Your treating surgeon makes the final decision about your surgery, together with you.

Timing

When a second opinion helps

Before you commit to a plan

Check the plan suits you while every option is still open.

Choosing between options

Sleeve or bypass? Which implant? A consultant helps you weigh it up.

When your plan changes

A new technique or combined procedures deserve a fresh look.

After surgery, if questions arise

If your recovery raises questions, a consultant advises on next steps.

Scope

What the specialist reviews

Your consultant goes through the detail of your plan with you.

  • Your goals, and what is realistic for you
  • The proposed procedure and technique
  • How the plan suits your health and anatomy
  • Implant, graft or device choices
  • Risks specific to you, explained honestly
  • The anaesthetic and recovery plan
  • Alternatives, including less invasive options
  • Timing, travel and time away from work

Questions

Common questions

Will my surgeon mind?

Most surgeons welcome an informed patient. We share it only if you want.

Do I need scans or letters?

Bring what you have. The specialist will tell you if anything else would help. We can also arrange pre-care tests for you.

What if the specialist disagrees with my surgeon?

They will explain why and what to ask. The decision stays yours, with your surgeon.

Can I have one after surgery?

Yes, if your recovery raises questions.

How soon can it happen?

We arrange it around your travel dates.

Is a second opinion included in my care?

A second opinion is an additional service, offered at an extra cost. We confirm the cost before anything is booked.
